My artistic practice is focused on the influence of literature and poetry on art; and how our contemporary experience of place or culture is shaped by its history. I am particularly interested in the varying ways that nighttime is navigated in literature and art; and how our cultural and material understandings and experiences of night inform how it is represented.
I work mainly in painting and drawing from my studio in Yorkshire in the UK. The roots of my work are underpinned by a strong drawing practice and a firm belief in this as a foundation for excellence.
My paintings are in private collections all over the world, including the private collection at Kensington Palace.
A book about my Four Quartets series of paintings in published by Rook’s Nest in 2025.
I also regularly consult on art for businesses and private individuals; and I write about art, literature and culture for a number of publications.
