About/Exhibitions

I am an artist working from my studio in rural Wiltshire. I work in acrylic on canvas or board, and high-grade watercolour on cotton paper (usually Arches). All of my work is of archival quality.

Recent and Forthcoming Exhibitions and Projects:

100 Moths. An ongoing art and conservation project which involves me producing 100 large paintings and 100 small drawings of British moths, including those which are the most at risk. Once completed, the paintings will form an exhibition open to the public, and a book will be published reproducing all of the images and containing information about each moth.

Pre-2018: I have regularly exhibited in galleries in Bath, Wells and London since 2000, as well as having shown at numerous open public exhibitions. Two of my paintings are held in the private collection at Kensington Palace.

Over the years, my work has included studies of architecture and gardens, botanical paintings, and anatomical/life studies, as well as more abstract compositions. I mainly work in series. For example, The English Jungle investigates the idea of a ‘managed’ English landscape and environment, from idyllic woods to humble houseplants, by focusing on the ‘wild’ aspects of the greenery that we attempt to control and aestheticise; and the Cabinet of Curiosities collection comprised more than 40 works exploring the intricate beauty of insects and the themes of collecting that were a feature of 18th and early 20th century Britain and Europe.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of my work, please get in touch.
